Medical Data Integration Center Ruhr University Bochum (RUB)
The Medical Data Integration Center at the Ruhr University Bochum (MeDIZ.RUB) is a central interface for the integration and use of medical data in research. As part of the Medical Research Services (MRS.RUB), we network the University Medicine Bochum with national and international initiatives such as the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) and the Network University Medicine (NUM).
It is our task to make collected data gathered during clinical care at RUB University Hospital (UK RUB) available for medical research in compliance with data protection regulations. This data makes a decisive contribution to better understanding diseases, developing innovative therapies and improving patient care.
As part of the MII, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), we are working to advance personalized medicine using digital technologies. Our infrastructure makes it possible to incorporate clinical care data into research in a targeted manner and thus achieve progress in diagnosis and treatment.
Data protection is a top priority for us. All research projects that access the data undergo strict checks and are bound by clear data protection regulations.
Further information on using the services of MeDIZ.RUB and how to apply can be found on our information for researchers page.

Service range of the MeDIZ.RUB
The MeDIZ.RUB has a central function as an intermediary between clinical researchers, technical experts and the data sources from medical care. In addition to supervising research projects, it offers support in data processing and compliance with ethical and legal guidelines.
Information for patients
Your health data can make a significant contribution to medical research. By agreeing to the broad consent, you allow your data from healthcare to be used for research in a non-identifiable (pseudonymized) way. This helps us to develop innovative treatment methods and expand medical knowledge.

Information for researchers
Data-driven research is becoming increasingly important in modern medicine. The MeDIZ.RUB supports you as a researcher at Bochum University Medical Center in the use of healthcare data for your projects. From data preparation to compliance with ethical standards.

Use and Access Committee
The Use and Access Committee (UAC) decides on the approval of applications for the use of patient data for research projects (data use application) submitted to the MeDIZ.RUB. It is made up of representatives from various departments of the RUB UK and the RUB Faculty of Medicine.
