Information for researchers
The Faculty of Medicine supports researchers who wish to use routine clinical data for scientific projects. Below you will find information on the procedure for internal and external research projects as well as further links and contact options.
Internal research projects
Researchers at Bochum University Medical Center who would like to use routine clinical data from our university hospital for their research projects can contact the MeDIZ.RUB. Here you can first submit a feasibility request to check the availability of the data for your research project. If the feasibility is confirmed, you have the option of submitting an official data usage request.

External research projects
Researchers who are not affiliated with the University Medical Center Bochum but would like to use data from the RUB University Hospital for their medical research projects can submit their application via the Research Data Portal for Health nationwide or directly via MeDIZ.RUB.
If sufficient data is available for the research project, a data use application must be submitted. This application must contain a positive ethics vote and a detailed study protocol, which will be reviewed by a scientific committee. Once approved, the requested data will be made available by MeDIZ.RUB.
