Medical Research Services - Core Facilities of the University hospital Bochum
The Core Facilities are the center of the University hospital Bochum’s infrastructure and are an integral part of theMedical Research Services (MRS.RUB). These central units support (bio-) medical research through the use of state-of-the-art technologies and advanced analytical methods. They play a decisive role in the development and application of new findings and contribute significantly to the quality and efficiency of our research projects.
The Medical Research Services ensure that the research community at University hospital Bochum has all the resources it needs to successfully advance research projects and make significant progress in biomedical research. In recent years, the University hospital Bochum has established a large number of core facilities and is continuously working on the strategic expansion of this infrastructure.
The core facilities are open to all researchers at the University hospital Bochum and beyond. Independent of individual institutes, clinics or professorships, they offer access to state-of-the-art research infrastructures and thus support the entire research community.
Central service unit
The centralization of project management, IT, quality management and data management helps to increase efficiency and promote cooperation within MRS.RUB. The central service unit coordinates and controls all research projects, optimizes IT resources, ensures quality standards and guarantees uniform data management. This allows researchers easy access to resources and the effective use of know-how and infrastructure.
Biobanking
The biobank network of the Ruhr University Bochum (BioNet.RUB) supports the administration and use of biosample collections of the Bochum University Medical Center. With a powerful IT solution, BioNet.RUB enables the efficient transfer of samples and associated data to research projects. BioNet.RUB gives researchers access to a wide range of biological samples, which provide a valuable basis for their research work.
Clinical Trials
The Network for Clinical Trials at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (NeKSt.RUB) provides comprehensive support for researchers at Bochum University Medicine in conducting clinical trials. Our network accompanies you through the entire process - from application to study planning and monitoring.
Bioinformatics
The Core Unit Bioinformatics Medicine at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (CUBiMed.RUB) offers comprehensive support for proteomics research. We provide you with powerful tools for proteomics measurements, advise researchers and carry out the statistical analysis of the collected data.
Data integration center
The Medical Data Integration Centre (MeDIZ.RUB) specializes in making valuable data from routine care accessible for medical research. The aim is to improve the quality of patient care and to further develop medical care through sound research. As part of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII), the Faculty of Medicine is the deputy partner for the University hospital Bochum in the “Smart Medical Information Technology for Healthcare” (SMITH) consortium.
Imaging
The Core Facility Imaging offers advanced optical systems for 2D, 3D and 4D microscopy. Our offering includes imaging of both fixed and living cells and ranges from whole tissue to subcellular details.
Flow cytometry
The Core Facility Flow Cytometry offers scientists access to platforms for flow cytometric analysis, imaging flow cytometry and cell sorting
Trust office
The Trust Office (TrustMe.RUB) offers comprehensive support in the management of patient data. TrustMe.RUB specializes in the pseudonymization, elimination of duplicate and cross-site integration of patient data from University hospital Bochum. Our goal is to create a secure, legally compliant and data protection-compliant database for medical research.
