
Decentralized equality initiative in medicine
At the Faculty of Medicine at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), we are committed to equal opportunities in a variety of ways. Our decentralized equal opportunities initiatives are an essential part of this commitment and offer comprehensive support in various areas:
- Advice: We offer comprehensive advice for our employees and students on all gender equality issues. Our advisors are available to answer your concerns and questions and support you in the implementation of equality measures.
- Contact person: As a trustworthy contact person, we are there to support you in the event of disadvantage, discrimination or sexual harassment within the faculty. Our aim is to ensure a respectful and safe environment in which all members of the faculty feel comfortable.
- Participation in committees: We are actively involved in the Faculty Council, appointment committees and other important faculty committees. With the right to propose motions and speak, we ensure that gender equality aspects are given appropriate consideration within the decision-making processes.
- Opinion on appointment proposals: In coordination with the central Equal Opportunities Officer, we comment on appointment proposals. This ensures that gender equality aspects are comprehensively examined and taken into account when selecting new professors.

Through these measures, we strengthen equal opportunities and promote an inclusive culture at our faculty. Our aim is to create an environment in which each individual receives the support he or she needs to be successful.

Student Representation for Gender Equality
The Student Representation for Gender Equality at the RUB Faculty of Medicine is the point of contact for all students at the faculty. As part of their voluntary work, they are committed to equal opportunities for men and women.
