Our commitment to you
Making diversity visible, counteracting discrimination and promoting talent in a targeted manner: This is what Prof. Dr. Isolde Karle has been working towards since 2021 in the newly created Vice-Rectorate for Diversity, Inclusion and Talent Development.
The Faculty of Medicine is also focusing on diversity and wants to use the diversity of the people who work and study at our faculty as our strength and allow it to flourish.
We want to increasingly reduce discrimination (experiences) of all kinds and provide the best possible support and assistance to people who are affected by discrimination.
The decentralized Diversity Officers of the Faculty of Medicine, who are available to all members of the Faculty of Medicine and the UK-RUB, act as the first point of contact, e.g. in the event of experiences of discrimination.

The RUB anti-discrimination policy
Ruhr-Universität Bochum stands for diversity and equal opportunities and attaches great importance to non-discriminatory treatment in the workplace and study environment. It therefore promotes trusting and respectful cooperation between its members and staff at all functional levels in studies, teaching, research, transfer and services. With the anti-discrimination guideline, it expressly points out that it does not tolerate discrimination, harassment, violence, stalking and bullying. RUB creates the framework conditions to ensure that people's personal rights and their individual personal boundaries are respected and upheld in accordance with the German Basic Law.

Promotion of diversity projects
The new Lore Agnes Vision program promotes equality and diversity at the faculties and other institutions of Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The Faculty of Medicine also receives annual funding in this way, which can be used to implement projects to promote equality and diversity. If you have a good idea for such a project, please get in touch with us and perhaps we can initiate something together!
