Projects of TrustMe.RUB

TrustMe.RUB was established as part of a digitalization strategy at University Medicine Bochum to enable the use of patient data for research purposes. It aligns with national strategies and guidelines set by the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) and the University Medicine Network (NUM).

As the technical solution of the digitalization strategy, the Research Data Infrastructure (FDI) at RUB was developed, which includes both MeDIZ.RUB and TrustMe.RUB. As an independent trustee office, TrustMe.RUB is organized as a core facility of MRS.RUB, enabling collaboration with partners both within and outside the FDI framework.

The following projects are supported by TrustMe.RUB:

Project: MeDIZ.RUB

Within the FDI, TrustMe.RUB works closely with MeDIZ.RUB and UK RUB. The goal of the FDI is to create a digital infrastructure that consolidates and provides patient data from healthcare delivery — specifically from UK RUB — for research purposes. TrustMe.RUB supports this project by pseudonymizing patient data, managing this data, as well as handling consent, revocation, and identity management. It is a key component in ensuring the project’s compliance with data protection regulations.

Project: BioNet.RUB

In this project, TrustMe.RUB plays a key role in integrating BioNet.RUB into the FDI and performs tasks from two distinct perspectives. On one hand, the central role of the trustee office allows for the creation of a site-specific pseudonym for use in the CentraXX system of BioNet.RUB. On the other hand, TrustMe.RUB is used to pseudonymize the data collected in BioNet.RUB within the extension module for biobank sample data of the core dataset of the MII, linking this data with the information from MeDIZ.RUB. This integration enables the export of data for medical research projects.
